    Minimum of two grade C GCSEs (or equivalent) or adult entry (21 years of age) or Qantm Basic Media Certificate. Spoken and written English.

Students choosing to study the 3D Animation course will study a number of core subjects that will provide the foundation for the more specialized modules. Core modules include Design Basics, 2D Animation, History of Animation, 3D Fundamentals and Pre-Production Fundamentals. In addition to core subjects 3D Animation students will take more advanced modules in animation and modelling, plus sound design and digital audio/video production.

All aspects of 3D animation are covered, including modelling, texturing, lighting, rigging, rendering and character animation. Alongside the core practical skills, students also learn enriching conceptual and theoretical topics such as art, design, communication, narrative and scripting.

Course objectives

  • Train students in industry-standard software to a high level (currently mainly Autodesk Maya and Shake, amongst others).
  • Produce a range of projects to develop style and portfolio.
  • Allow students to become part of the 3D, CG, games and film production network in UK and beyond.
  • Enrich technical knowledge with theoretical topics, such as art, design and traditional animation.
  • Prepare students for further study such as the Qantm Degree programme
